MetLife Foundation Read for Health Program:
Getting Active and Eating Well

New this year!! This module focuses on helping adolescents develop the capacity for lifelong physical activity and healthy eating, incorporating positive messages about eating and physical activity, such as food is to be enjoyed and each of us can find ways to be physically active that are right for us. Getting Active and Eating Well includes four curriculum units on the following topics: physical activity, foods of the world, influences on food choices, and setting and reaching goals related to nutrition and physical activity. Each curriculum unit features a critical message related to nutrition and/or physical activity, as well as a meaningful literacy task. All four units are designed to meet national and state health education and English language arts standards. The units also include information and skill-building activities that meet curriculum standards in social studies, science, and physical education. This publication includes reproducible student handouts and transparencies.
